Joanne Chalmers Burleigh Waters Certificate III in Individual Support

Joanne took a step out of her comfort zone and found herself in her dream career. After 25 years in hospitality it was time for a change to better connect with Jo’s caring nature.

“Convenience and location were totally appealing for me with ACE being so close to home. Once the course started and I met the trainers, the way they delivered their lessons, their support and information were second to none – amazing. Flexibility of being online worked well. It was great to do the workshops, as you get to see your trainers in person, that helps make you feel part of the team”.

Britta Lowe Burleigh Waters DIPLOMA OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE

Britta has been in childcare for 5 years, working in all the rooms and gaining a range of skills from these experiences. She has always been interested in the idea of going rural to educate.

“I looked into lots of different things from childcare centres in Alice Springs, to nannying in Cape York, then I came across the title ‘Governess’. After exploring what this actually involves I discovered that I can see myself doing exactly that”. Britta completed her Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care recently and starts her new job soon in western Queensland.

Pornkamol Somkhuna BURLEIGH WATERS CERTIFICATE III IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE

Having experienced the highs and lows of Covid-19 last year, Da bravely decided that 2021 was the year to get back on track. “I was in administration before but have always wanted to work with children in early childhood. I did not think I could do it but after Covid, I wanted to try something new”.

After taking the first step by applying to the Certificate III course she quickly found her rhythm with mentoring from trainer Julene Muir. “The convenience of the Canvas e-learning platform, Julene’s advice and the valuable work placement experience was great”. “Now I feel excited to apply for any early childhood job – the Centre I completed work placement even asked me to apply there!”

Hamisi Lumosa Lismore Certificate III in Individual Support Disability

Things have changed over time, but I stayed my best self and didn’t give up. I really wanted a new career and enrolled in this course to gain the knowledge and experience; but also to be challenged by new ideas. I’m now employed in the sector and really enjoying it. I would say, take a risk, and see what can happen for you. Bravo Hamisi!
