These guys and girls graduated from an 11 week program which combined 2 days of work experience [in a field of interest], 6 industry visits, boot camp and ended with the successful completion of a Certificate 1 in Vocational Pathways.
Their graduation ceremony was attended by Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Communities, Women and Youth – Queensland Government.
What’s next for these amazing young people?
Program Coordinator Nicole Hocking from the Beenleigh PCYC says “the students have had an incredible chance to work in an area of their interest and learn at the same time, which means they have a stronger idea about the direction they want to go in. Some have already secured jobs with their work experience employer, with others deciding to press on with their study and new challenges”.
Nicole’s advice to any young person out there – “if school is not right for you there are so many other alternatives – connect with one”.
The program is delivered by the Beenleigh PCYC.
The Certificate qualification component delivered by ACE Community Colleges.
Next round starts today with 19 aspiring young people.
