There is a buzz that is palpable in Lismore at the moment, with much talk about the sustainable future of our City. So let’s take a look at how we are travelling.
The Northern Rivers as a region is experiencing rapid growth in retail, building and construction, personal services, tourism and hospitality. Employment generation in health, education and community services sectors is making possible opportunities for higher skilled professionals.
Did you know that almost 21% of the 90,079 jobs in this Region are in Lismore, second largest % outside of Tweed (RDA Northern Rivers NSW 2015).
Right now there is an estimated $450 million* in capital expenditure on the table in Lismore including commercial/private investment (Quest Apartments, Bennetts A-grade office Building, Lismore City Toyota, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, North Lismore Plateau and Pineapple Road developments). With Council infrastructure slatted for Oakes Oval, Art Gallery and Quadrangle, Wilson Street bridge and South Lismore sewerage treatment plant.
With refreshed investment, and balanced approach comes confidence, and that translates into tangible realities for local businesses and our community.
